June 20th GOBA Wapakoneta to Troy

It was very cold last night especially compared to the 90+ degrees it was yesterday. It was in the 50's this morning. While we were riding someone was off on the side of the rode with the ambulance there. They were putting on a neck brace on.
We went to the Bicycle Museum at the morning snack stop. I was not going to go in. I was going to tell Morgan that we did not have time.. I had to slow down for a second and think when would I get this chance again.

I am so glad that we went in..

How about this for a Harley Davidson.. You have to love the side car..

I remember a kid in the neighborhood having this Orange Crate I thought it was so cool.. I was so jealous..
This is a 2004 Schwinn with a suicide shifter on the left side.

Morgan loved this bicycle. It had a set of pedals for each one of us.. But how would we get it out the door with out getting caught?

This one even came with toy pistols.

This one came with a real rifle..

This is very similar to the bicycle I want..

Morgan started to bonk a little bit. She didn't want to drink or eat anything. So I pulled out the water bottle and soaked my back first. Then I started to squirt her. It took a couple of times of doing that to respond. She started to eat and drink after that.. I told her that it looked like rain as she was looking for the clouds I soaked her again..  We really pushed it today and was in at 1:30. Milage for the day was 62 miles which is a Metric Century.. We beat most people in today.  It was very cool when we got into Troy they gave a survivor buff and a "Troy Pin".

We set up camp about 20 yards from the luggage trailer. I took the tandem in to get worked on the rear brake was rubbing so that was slowing us down all day. Century Cycles did a great job on the tandem. I took off the extra pair of stoker bars.  Morgan like it with out the extra pair of Bars. We rode our bicyle down town to get some ice cream at the WildBerry.. It was so good..

June 19th Goba Layover Day..

No real bicycle riding today. We are jsut using it to get around town. We went and had breakfast at Alpha-cafe.

The History of the Alpha and its owner are steeped in rich tradition, stories, and personal narratives. The back bar was built in 1893 by Brunswick Balke Collender Company, Cincinnati, Ohio. The company built three back bars of this large size, all similar in design, but each unique in its intricate carvings and shapes. One was destroyed in a fire and the other still remains in Arizona. The Alpha’s back bar is 24 foot long and is made of hand carved white oak. The wall on the opposite side of the bar is lined with a matching 8-foot tall wainscoting with arched mirrors and the same intricate carvings. At the end of the bar sits a column supporting a leaded glass partition.

Morgan and I played their bowling machine after breakfast..

Morgan was very happy that we were able to get to a library so she can get her fix. We were there a couple of hours.. It rained while we were inside.. We wanted to see the Fantastic Four  but we are going to wait till Thursday.

We ran in to Shane and Hailey. We met them last year on GOBA.. They were on a single and a tag-a-long last year. This year they have a smokin Co-Motion tandem.. We had lunch with them at a small coffee shop. The food was really good.

June 18th 2007 GOBA Van Wert to Wapakoneta

It was another was hot night in the tent. We were up at five again this morning. It was 93 degrees today. We cut off a couple of miles today and ended up with 49 miles again. We were in at about 11:30.. It was very flat again today but very hot and windy. We beat the really heavy winds in the afternoon.

We had dinner at a local pizza place. It was very good.. We went and saw "Dreamer" with Kurt Russel in the evening. It was no charge at a local church. They served us Popcorn, Hotdogs and lemon-aid. They would not accept donations.. It was very nice of them to do that.

June 17th 2007 Father's Day.. GOBA Celina to Van Wert

It was a very hot last night. Morgan and I had a hard time sleeping. We got up a little be after five this morning. Morgan was a big help in getting everything ready to go from helping with taking down the tent to helping getting everything back in the bags to get on the truck..

Our AM rest stop was in Rockford at about 14 miles.

At the lunch stop we had our picture take behind cut outs of the founders of the town.

We ran into some of the people that know us as the “GOBA Police”. Last year we were taking a short cut and caught up to some ladies doing the same.. I was trying to be funny telling them that they should not be taking shortcuts. They asked why were doing the same. I told them we were GOBA Police  and that I was going to write down their numbers and report them. The route today took us in to Indiana. We only were in there for less then 2 miles. It was very hot today 96 degrees. We were very excited that at the PM rest stop in Ohio City they had a water sprayer that you could ride through on your bicycle to cool off. I stopped for a couple of seconds (track stand) with Morgan under the sprayer soaking her (not in the video below).

Morgan and I each had a huge freeze pop. The mileage for the day was 49 miles.  We got in at about 12:00
Morgan did a great job of pedaling. It was tough because of the heat and the headwinds. There was a very cool mural

All day long people were wishing me a happy Father's day. I kept telling them it doesn't get any better then this..

June 16th 2007 On our way to GOBAville

We left for GOBAville at about 12:00. We had to stop and pick up a new helmet for Morgan, her old one was cracked. We went to Eddies because it was on the way. Once we got to GOBAville we set up our tend and rode in the parade.

We has strawberry shortcake at the park, it was the best I ever had because the cake was home made. I am very nervous on how we are going to do tomorrow. Did we get in enough miles? Will Morgan help enough?
